Wednesday 21st June 2.30pm
Cortington Manor, Corton, Nr. Warminster, BA12 0SY
This is a fine example of a classic, English garden with a delightful white climbing rose covering the front and side walls of the house. There are four acres of wild and formal gardens surrounding this C18 manor house.
From the front, an arch in the yew hedge leads through to the main lawn, edged by a large, herbaceous border on the sunny side, yew bays with Portuguese laurel line on the other. Through another arch, a bank of white roses and foxgloves edge swimming pool. This leads round through a Sweet pea arch into the cutting garden, then on to a vegetable area and an orchard divided by yew hedges. A Lime avenue leads towards the river through a wild area with mown paths crossing and a pond. There is also a walled herb garden. The Stable yard features pleached hornbeams and beech hedges. The garden lies just over half an hour’s drive from Freshford.
Entry £10.00 Refreshments included.
Everyone welcome.
